I am currently writing this on my last full day on Koh Tao after a 6 day stay. So let me wrap up our stay here on this beautiful island:
we arrived at the island on the 16. of February at ca 09:30 am and walked from there to our hostel to check in. It was a shared rooom (means you share a room with bunkbeds and a bathroom with shower). It is defenitly the cheapest type of stay and so far we could not complain about anything in that concern.
After checking in, we ate something at a restaurant and met a co-worker from Joel who also was on Koh Tao at that time. He told us some things about the dive course he was taking, the one which we also want to do. We rented 2 motorbikes (rollers). You have to deposit some cash but we didnt have to show any drivers licence. For now I was just driving together with joel, but at some point I have to get a chrashcourse and learn it. Everything is done here by motorbikes. u get around the island in about 10-15 minutes.
On our first day here we also experienced the first rainfall of our stay. It was a really heavy rain, you could see everybody searching for some cover and waiting it out. The rain only lasted some minutes tho and some more minutes later you were dry again aswell.
in the evening we went to a beach in the south of the island. we had some beers and went back aftwerards after another long day with a lot of traveling

Here in Thailand you don’t really eat breakfast in the way we do it in europe. It’s really common to see people eating traditional rice dishes from 9 am on and we started to adopt this habbit aswell. We had some lunch at another beach bar which was as delicious as the rest of the food we had on our whole stay so far. Joel got pretty adicted to the fresh coconuts over here which are really fresh and nice together with the cocount flesh. I like them too, but it happend multiple times, that they were sold out at the end of a day, seems like they are importing them from somewhere else.
On that day we continued our island-discovery tour with our bikes and went to a cure little bay had some fresh fruit juices which I am a big fan of, the mango juices especially. Then we went to a 360 degree viewpoint. The view was stunning and the entry was only 1 francs.
In the evening we met a german man called Rolland which Joel knew through another friend. He lives for 35 years on the island and we had the opportunity to meet him for some beers and listen to his storys about how the island was when he arrived etc etc. It was really impressive to hear about his lifestory and it was a memorable evening. We went to a local restaurant he knew, food was really good and really cheap. Afterwards we went for some more drinks and called it a day.

On Saturday there was a big jungle party taking place which Timon and I visited with Fern, the english girl from the bus ride. You got picked up by some pickups and drove for 5 minutes to the location, which was made out of 4 different music stages built into the jungle. It was really crowded but the music was really nice. we left at 1:3o am ish with our english friend and went home as soon as we arrived back in the center.

The highlight of that day was watching the sunset on another viewoint, somewhere hidden in the jungle. The road to there was pretty bumpy but it was worth it. We also booked our diving course at the assava diving resort for the next following 3 days and we also stayed there in of of their shared rooms. A seperate post about our diving experiences and our last days on Koh Tao will be online soon if your reading this.
