Koh Phangan & Koh Samui

Koh Phangan 23.02.2024-25.02.2024

After our first island experience we said goodbye to Koh Tao and took the ferry to Koh Phangan. We booked pretty spontaniously, so all options were rather expensive. Reason to that must have been that it was full moon week in Koh Phangan. On every half and fullmoon there are big partys on the island taking place. We were there 1 evening before fullmoon and left on fullmoon. So we only had 1 full day on Koh Phangan. Bikes were too expensive to rent aswell.

So we took a walk from our hotelroom to the beach. On our way we saw some foodmarkets, shops and there were a lot of kite surfers on the beach. we had some fruitsmoothies and beers at a beachbar and played some billiard.

In the evening we went to the fullmoon beach, the place where the main party will take place on fullmoon. The beach was visited well, but it wasn’t too crowded. we smeared through the narrow streets by the beach and had some drinks on the beach at a bar. on every bigger beach here on those islands you will find thai people perfoming acrobatic stunts on the beaches with firesticks. Its always an eye catcher. Besides that you have local people walking along the beach trying to sell you stuff or convince you to make photos with their leguans etc.

We had a great night and stay overall in Koh Phangan, eventough we would have loved to see more from the island.

Koh Samui 25.02.2024-28.02.2024

However, after 2 Days it was time for the ferry again and we switched islands within 2 hours. In Koh Samui we had another hotelroom even with a little pool. On Koh Samui i learned how to drive a scooter. turned out to be really easy to control, only the traffic here can be a bit random but works aswell.

Koh Samui was the biggest island from the ones we already visited. it took about an hour to drive once around the island. On our stay in Koh Samui we went to see some waterfalls, a ruin from an old village and we also experienced the nightlife of Koh Samui, which did not disappoint us. We also went to a fancy restaurant, felt like it was ages ago that I did something like that.

One of the highlights for me was also the rasta bar which we visited on our stay. it had a really nice vibe eventough we were the only customers. The interieur and the seaview was amazing there.

We Left Koh Samui after 2 full days and headed to our next destination, a bungalow near to Surat Thani, a city at the coast of Thailand. We deciced that it would be good to have a place to stay for more than only a couple of days. So we booked 2 bungalows in the inland of Thailand one near Surat Thani and one near Krabi. So my next blog posts will cover some general topics i picked up here on my stay in Thailand so far.

Topics i have in mind are food, 7-11 snack ranking, traffic etc.

Also stay tuned for some updates on our about us page, so you will get to know joel and timon a bit better. A section about my equipment here is also planed.

PS: The soup you see down below is served often for free as a starter and is comparable with a bouillon soup back at home with some spring onion. I really like it. The foodmarket was another highlight in Koh Phangan.
