48 hours of Bangkok

Wednesday 14.02 – Thursday 15.02

We started our first day in Bangkok at 06:00 am. Joel and Timon went to the gym while i did swam some lenghts.

Afterwards we went to the 7-11 store next to the hotel. 7-11 stores are all over the country here and they provide a lot of different snacks, cigarettes, beverage stations with refill and also sim cards, which we got one for our wlan router we carry with us.
Tthen we made  us on our way to the China Town district. It’s known for streetfood and shopping. We were walking for 30 min ca and I have to say I had a more chaotic and stressful picture from Bangkok (aka BKK) in my head. The Traffic is pretty random, on the zebra crossing just start walking with some courage and the traffic will go around you. On our way we found a cute local place to eat some breakfast / brunch. We had some different rice disches.
The Thai people here are really friendly and respectful. You can eat a full meal here with something to  drink for 5 franks easly.

The China Town District was pretty crowded but managable to walk around in. We saw a lot of random shops and a lot of food stands. we bought some hats and finally convinced us to try out a local streetfood place. Everything was really good and fresh, staff was really friendly again.

We also got some grinded coffee from Starbucks for our Bialleti coffemaker. Lookin foreward to try our selfmade coffee the first time here.

We went back to the hotel again, strolled through the big market next to our place and relaxed a bit in our room until the evening.

The plan for the evening was to go to Khao san road, one of the popular streets to go out. We took a tuktuk cab to go there. Its really fun to take a ride in them, they are really fast and loud and we could listen to our own music on a speaker.

Khao san road was really crowded with tourist. They were a lot of clubs with loud music and also a random Irish pub. We had some drinks, walked around but called it a day pretty early, we were still pretty tired. We ahd a last beer at our hotelbar with a nice view of the skyline and went to bed.

The next day we checked out, left our Backpacks there and visited the Lumphini park. The air was noticably better and colder than in the city center. You could also see some locals hang out there to relax.

In the evening we went to our pick up spot for our busride to Koh tao.

The bus was a normal travelbus like a flixbus. The ride was long, about 9 hours with one stop. I felt pretty sick the whole ride, was not a really plesant ride for me. But we made friends with a girl form Brighton, was nice to talk to her.

At ca 5 am we arrived at the pier and loads of buses rolled in and hundreds of people waited for the boats to arrive. everthing went really smoothly and surprisingly punctual. After a 1.5 hour boat ride with finally some sleep we arrived in Koh Tao where our next Chapter started.
